LJ Hair Lab is a free collection of 44 hair-care tools and guides for people with relaxed, natural, texturized and transitioning hair. We build calculators, quizzes and checkers that answer practical questions — what is in this conditioner, how long until bra-strap length, how many packs of braiding hair to buy — and we show the math behind every answer.
New site, new owner
LJ Hair Lab is an independent publication under new ownership since 2026. It is not affiliated with the previous owner of this domain or her former blog. This domain previously hosted a personal hair blog. That blog's posts, photos, products and courses are not part of this site, and nothing here is written by, endorsed by or connected to its former author. Every page on LJ Hair Lab is original work by our editorial team. If you followed an old link here, you'll land on the closest topic we cover today.
What we do
- Tools with real logic. Each tool has its own formula, rules or data set, and a “How it works” section that explains it, including its limits.
- Sources you can check. Claims about hair science link to peer-reviewed studies, safety reviews from the Cosmetic Ingredient Review, or regulations.
- No medical promises. Hair loss and scalp conditions need a dermatologist. Our pages say so whenever a topic crosses that line.
- Privacy first. Tools run in your browser. Trackers store data on your device unless you create a Hair Journal account.
How we make money
LJ Hair Lab is free and supported by advertising (Google AdSense) and, on some pages, affiliate links that are always labelled. Advertisers and brands never pay for verdicts or rankings. Read the affiliate disclosure and our editorial policy.
