Privacy Policy

Last updated:

This policy explains what information LJ Hair Lab (“LJ Hair Lab”, “we”) collects when you use latoyajonesblog.com, how we use it and the choices you have. Questions: [email protected].

1. Tools run in your browser

Calculators, quizzes and checkers process what you type in your own browser. We don't receive your answers. When you use “Copy link” or “Share”, your inputs are placed in the page address so the result can be reopened — anyone you send that link to can see those inputs.

Trackers and lists (for example the length retention tracker, product inventory, expiry tracker, salon planner and travel checklist) save data in your browser's local storage on your device. It is not sent to us. You can export it or clear it from the tool at any time; clearing your browser data also removes it. Photos used in the progress photo comparison never leave your device.

2. Hair Journal accounts

If you create a Hair Journal account, we store:

  • your email address (to sign you in with a one-time link and to send reminders you set up);
  • the entries, ratings, notes, reminders and measurements you add;
  • photos you upload, kept in private cloud storage and shown only to you through short-lived links;
  • a session identifier in a cookie that keeps you signed in.

We use this data only to run the journal. You can export everything or delete your account (including photos) inside the app at any time. We don't sell journal data or use it for advertising. Journal data is stored on servers and cloud storage run by our hosting provider, Hetzner.

3. Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages and tools are used (for example, page views and events like “tool result shown” or “PDF downloaded”). Google Analytics sets cookies and collects data such as device type, approximate location and pages visited. In the EEA, UK and Switzerland, analytics cookies are only used after you consent.

4. Advertising

We show ads from Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google's Ad Settings and learn more at How Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland see a consent message from a Google-certified consent management platform and can accept, reject or customize cookies. You can change your choice any time with the “Privacy choices” link in the footer.

5. Affiliate links

If you click an affiliate link (for example to Amazon), the retailer may set cookies to attribute a purchase to us. We don't receive your personal or payment details. See the affiliate disclosure.

6. Email and server logs

If you email us, we keep the conversation to answer you. Our servers keep standard access logs (IP address, browser, requested page, time) for security and troubleshooting for up to 30 days.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR or U.S. state privacy laws such as the CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for targeted advertising. Use the footer's “Privacy choices” link for ad cookies, the Hair Journal's export and delete buttons for journal data, or email us for anything else. We don't discriminate against anyone for using these rights.

Where the GDPR applies, our legal bases are consent (analytics and advertising cookies), contract (running your Hair Journal account) and legitimate interests (security and server logs). You can complain to your local data protection authority.

8. Children

This site is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. The Hair Journal is for users 16 and older.

9. Changes

We'll update this page when our practices change and adjust the date at the top.
