Our editorial team

Last updated:

The LJ Hair Lab editorial team researches, writes and tests every tool and guide on this site. We read the research, check ingredient lists line by line and update pages when the evidence changes. Our process is described in the editorial policy.

How a tool gets published

  1. Research. We read the relevant studies, safety reviews and stylist guidance, and write down where each number comes from.
  2. Build and test. Every formula and rule has automated tests, including edge cases (for example, trims that cancel out growth).
  3. Explain. Each page states how the tool works, what it can't tell you, and when to see a professional.
  4. Review. Before launch and at least once a year, we re-check sources and update the “Last data update” date.

Expert reviewers

We're recruiting licensed cosmetologists and hair-care scientists to review our tools and guides. Reviewed pages will name the reviewer and their credentials. Interested? Get in touch.
